Use the summon signs. The Radahn fight has 8 NPC summon signs scattered around the battlefield. Summon every single one before engaging. This is not optional — the fight is designed to be fought with allies. Summons respawn after they die, so keep re-summoning throughout the fight.

Phase 1: Mount Torrent. Ride in a large circle around the battlefield to avoid the arrow volleys and gravity pulls. Close in on Radahn when he is occupied with your summons. Dismount to attack, remount immediately to dodge.

Phase 2 entry: When Phase 2 begins he launches into space and returns as a meteor. Run away from where he disappears. When the blue comet trail appears in the sky, sprint in any direction — do not stand still. The impact is survivable with decent HP but devastating if you are caught directly.

01 — Before the Fight — The Summon Signs

The Radahn battlefield is unique in Elden Ring — it has dedicated NPC summon signs for Alexander, Blaidd, Patches, Jerren, Millicent, Okina, and others. These are not optional. The fight was designed around the Festival of Radahn, where warriors come from across the Lands Between to battle him. Use them all.

Walk the battlefield before engaging Radahn directly and activate every glowing golden sign. Each NPC you summon draws aggro and deals damage. Even after they die mid-fight, the signs refresh — ride Torrent back to them and re-summon during Phase 1 if needed. Patches in particular is a reliable tank who survives long into the fight.

    🗡 Torrent is Mandatory
Summon Torrent before engaging. The opening of the fight involves Radahn firing massive gravity-infused arrows from his two greatbows at extreme range. On foot, these are nearly impossible to dodge consistently. On Torrent, you can outrun the tracking and circle him safely while your summons distract him.

03 — Phase 2 — Meteor Entry and Comet Attacks

Radahn Phase 2 begins when his health reaches approximately 50%. He launches himself into the air and disappears. This is the most dangerous transition in the fight because many players stand still watching where he went.

Do not watch where he went. Run immediately. After a brief pause, a blue comet trail appears in the sky showing his return trajectory. He crashes into the earth and creates a massive explosion. If you are still near his departure point, you will be hit. Sprint on Torrent in any direction for at least 20 blocks.

In Phase 2 his sword attacks gain scarlet rot infusion — the same Scarlet Rot that appears in his lore. Hits from his blades can build Scarlet Rot status. Bring Preserving Boluses if you find yourself getting tagged by his melee attacks frequently.

    🔥 Phase 2 Strategy
Phase 2 Radahn is faster and more aggressive but the core strategy does not change — ride Torrent, use summons, attack in openings. Re-summon all NPC signs at the start of Phase 2 if your summons died. The summon signs refresh when Phase 2 begins. Four active NPCs in Phase 2 makes the fight significantly more manageable.

04 — Best Builds and Weapons

Bleed builds are the most efficient. Rivers of Blood or any bleed weapon with high attack rating can proc bleed twice in Phase 1 which takes off large chunks of health. Radahn has moderate bleed resistance — still effective, just not quite as dominant as against Malenia.

Strength builds work well because his large health pool rewards high per-hit damage. Greatswords and colossal weapons stagger him into critical hits more reliably than fast weapons with low poise damage per swing.

Sorcery and incantation users should maintain medium distance — far enough to cast safely, close enough that his ranged attacks are not the main threat. Stars of Ruin is particularly effective as it tracks even through his movement.

How to Beat Morgott, the Omen King

The Leyndell gatekeeper. Fast, aggressive, and punishes healing — here’s how to beat him.

    Updated: May 2026
    Instant Answer
    The Fast Answer
Morgott is fast but staggers easily. Aggressive melee with jump attacks triggers a critical hit window. In Phase 2 his sword gets golden rain — dodge away when he leaps, punish the recovery. Margit’s Shackle works in Phase 1 to stun him twice.

    01 Phase 1 — Aggression Wins

Morgott’s Phase 1 is nearly identical to Margit but faster. He mixes staff combos with dagger throws and holy daggers. The key: stay close and be aggressive. Jump attacks build stagger fast.

Margit’s Shackle still works here — use it twice in Phase 1 for free damage windows.

    02 Phase 2 — Golden Rain

At ~60% HP, Morgott powers up his sword with golden holy energy. His combo strings get longer and he adds an aerial slam with rain-down holy swords.

When he leaps into the air, dodge sideways. The rain attack covers the area he was targeting. Sprint away, then rush in during his recovery.

    03 Punish Windows

    • After his 3-hit sword combo — roll into the last hit, attack twice
    • After his thrust attack — he recovers slowly, 2-3 hits free
    • After his ground slam (Phase 2) — big recovery window
    • After using Margit’s Shackle — 3-4 free hits

    04 Recommended Level and Setup

Level 80-100 is comfortable. Bring a fast weapon for consistent staggers. Bleed works well. Summon Melina for extra damage — she’s available right outside the boss fog.

Phase 1 (Beast Clergyman): Run to the centre of the arena immediately. Stay close at all times — distance gets you killed by rock throws and fast lunges. Punish the two-handed ground slam with two hits while both hands are in the ground. Heavy attacks break his stance fast — a stance break gives you a critical hit.

Phase 2 transition: Open your menu during the cutscene and summon Black Knife Tiche. She will be active and pulling aggro the moment you regain control. Do not waste your Spirit Ash in Phase 1 — save it for this exact moment.

Phase 2 (Maliketh): Stay aggressive and directly under him — distance is death. Dodge the Piledriver inward, not away. Attack during the long wind-up of the Overhead Swing. Bring Preserving Boluses — the Black Flame status buildup will kill you from residual damage if you ignore it.

01 — How to Reach Maliketh

Maliketh is a mandatory boss in Crumbling Farum Azula. You cannot progress to Leyndell, Ashen Capital and finish the game without defeating him. You will reach this area after beating the Godskin Duo.

From the Beside the Great Bridge Site of Grace, head west and then south up the stairs, past the ramp, and through the door on the right. The road is guarded by a Draconic Tree Sentinel — you can skip it by running past, but clearing it removes it from your respawn run. At the boss level, that matters.

    🚩 Before You Enter
Recommended level: 100–120 minimum. If you are below this range, Maliketh's Phase 2 attacks will two-shot or one-shot you through armour. Level up, level your weapon to at least +20 standard or +8 somber, and make sure your Spirit Ash is at its maximum upgrade level before attempting this fight.

02 — Weaknesses and Best Damage Types

    PhaseWeak ToStrong AgainstBest Approach
Phase 1 — Beast ClergymanFire, Lightning, MagicHaemorrhage (resists it)Elemental damage or raw strength. Rivers of Blood still procs despite resistance.
Phase 2 — MalikethSlash, Strike, PierceMagicPhysical builds, bleed builds, Rivers of Blood, Blasphemous Blade.

Best weapons overall: Rivers of Blood (bleed procs despite Phase 1 resistance and shreds Phase 2), Blasphemous Blade (Taker's Flame ASH works exceptionally well), Comet Azur for sorcerers if your summon maintains aggro. If you have none of these, any well-upgraded weapon with physical damage works — the fight is more about reading attacks than about weapon choice.

    03 — Phase 1: Beast Clergyman — Full Breakdown

    Phase 1
    Beast Clergyman
Health: 100% to ~50% · Stance breaks relatively easy · Save your Spirit Ash for Phase 2

As soon as you enter the boss room the Beast Clergyman charges. Run immediately to the centre of the arena — the entrance is a narrow bridge with pitfalls on both sides. Fighting there kills you and your summon through falls, not through damage.

The key rule of Phase 1 is simple: stay close. Distance triggers his most dangerous moves — rapid rock throws that track, and a fast ground-skid lunge that is nearly impossible to react to at range. Everything he does up close is slower and more readable.

AttackHow to Read ItWhat to DoDanger
Two-Handed Ground Slam Raises both fists and slams them into the ground Attack twice while both hands are in the earth. Do not go for three — he swings wide on recovery. LOW
Lunge Stab Charges directly at you and stabs the ground Dodge sideways — never backwards. Punish once as he recovers. MED
Three-Hit Claw Combo Quick horizontal swings left-right-left Roll into each swing, not away. Punish after the third hit. MED
Rock Throw Collects rocks and throws them — triggered by distance Close the gap immediately. The rocks track but he stops throwing when you are in melee range. MED
Boulder Slam Rears back and slams a large boulder Dodge sideways with good timing. Large telegraphed windup — easier than it looks. HIGH

Breaking his stance is your priority. Heavy attacks from Strength weapons and Glintblade Phalanx both build stance damage quickly. A stance break staggers him into a critical hit animation — get this in Phase 1 ideally close to the 50% threshold so the stance break carries momentum into the Phase 2 transition.

⚠ Do Not Summon in Phase 1
Summoning your Spirit Ash at the start wastes it. Many Spirit Ashes fall into the pitfalls near the arena entrance if summoned too early. Save your Ash entirely for the Phase 2 transition cutscene — it is three times more valuable there.

04 — Phase 2 Transition — The Most Important Moment

When the Beast Clergyman's health reaches approximately 50%, a cutscene plays. He transforms into Maliketh the Black Blade. This cutscene is your best window in the entire fight.

Open your inventory or menu immediately as the cutscene begins and summon Black Knife Tiche. The summon triggers during the cutscene, meaning Tiche will be active, positioned in the arena, and pulling aggro the exact moment you regain control. You enter Phase 2 with the summon already working.

👑 Why Black Knife Tiche Only
Tiche is the only viable Spirit Ash for this fight. She is fast enough to dodge Maliketh's Phase 2 attacks and survives his AOE moves. Do not use Mimic Tear. Maliketh heals from all damage dealt to him — including damage from your own summon. Mimic Tear actively heals Maliketh. This is not a myth. It is confirmed by the community and by the damage numbers. Black Knife Tiche is the correct answer.

    05 — Phase 2: Maliketh — Full Attack Guide

    Phase 2
    Maliketh, the Black Blade
Dramatically faster · Black Flame causes HP drain · Stay in close range at all times

Phase 2 Maliketh is one of the most aggressive bosses in the game. The single most important rule: do not back away. Distance triggers his leaping slash — an aerial move that covers the entire arena and is nearly unreactable at range. Your safe position is directly under him, matching his movements.

He also applies Destined Death through his blade attacks — a debuff that gradually reduces your maximum HP. This is not like scarlet rot or bleed; it is a direct HP drain that will kill you even after you stop taking hits if the stack gets high enough. This is why Preserving Boluses are mandatory — they clear the debuff.

    AttackRead It ByCounterDanger
Piledriver Leaps straight up and slams directly down Run away from the landing zone, then dodge BACK IN toward him as he hits the ground. Attack twice on landing. Do not panic roll away — you will be in the follow-up range. EXTREME
Overhead Swing Long single-armed wind-up, delayed strike The delay is the key — attack DURING the wind-up, not after you see the swing. The timing feels wrong until you learn it. Two hit window. MED
Black Blade Slash — 2 Projectiles Backflip then sends 2 golden arcing projectiles Roll through both arcs, then follow up for the Piledriver variation. Do not panic roll — it repositions you into the damage zone. HIGH
Black Blade Slash — 3 Projectiles Backflip then sends 3 projectiles, then charges Dodge through all three projectiles, then roll INTO his Double Spin charge. Stay close on recovery. HIGH
Skitter Combo Fast 3-4 hit horizontal flurry while moving sideways Two full dodge rolls away, wait for the complete combo to finish before approaching. Punish on the recovery step. MED
Destined Death AOE Slow charge, golden glow from weapon, then massive blast Sprint away — do not roll. You need actual distance, not dodge frames. This move has enormous range and will clip you through a standard dodge. EXTREME
Ground Swipe Single low horizontal swipe along the ground Jump over it cleanly and punish with a jumping attack. Safe and rewarding if you read it. LOW
Roar Knockback Rears back and roars, knocking you back Shield it or take the hit — this move does no damage. It is a repositioning tool. Close the gap immediately after. NONE
    🥊 The Blasphemous Claw
If you found the Blasphemous Claw item in Farum Azula, it parries his signature Black Blade attack and deals massive stance damage. Activating it during his projectile slash animation interrupts the move entirely and stuns him for a large punish window. It is optional but it transforms the difficulty of the fight. Use it if you have it.

06 — Recommended Setup and Items

Spirit Ash: Black Knife Tiche (+10 if possible). Fast, survives Phase 2, dodges his AOE attacks. No other summon performs comparably in this fight.

Weapon: Rivers of Blood — bleed procs despite Phase 1 resistance and destroys Phase 2. Blasphemous Blade with Taker's Flame is almost as effective. Any well-upgraded +25 physical weapon is viable if you know the attack patterns.

    Items to bring:

Preserving Boluses — mandatory. Craft them (Dewkissed Herba x2, Crystal Cave Moss, Sacramental Bud) or buy from the Nomadic Merchant in Caelid. Bring at least 3. The Black Flame HP drain will kill you from residual damage if you do not clear it.

Crimson Flask allocation: Favour Crimson (HP) over Cerulean (FP) for this fight. Phase 2 damage is so high that FP conservation matters less than having enough heals to survive burst damage windows.

    ⚠ Summon Placement Warning
When summoning Tiche during the Phase 2 cutscene, make sure you were standing away from the bridge edges when Phase 1 ended. If you are near the edge, Tiche can spawn into a pitfall. Move to the centre of the arena during the last 30% of Phase 1 health.

    The Fix in 30 Seconds
Waterfowl Dance: When she lifts off, sprint directly toward her — not away. As she descends into the first flurry, roll forward-left twice. For the second flurry, roll backwards three times through the fan. Wait out the phantom fourth stroke before punishing. This is the whole fight.

Summon: Black Knife Tiche only. Do not use Mimic Tear — Malenia heals from all damage including your summon's. Tiche is fast enough to dodge Scarlet Aeonia in Phase 2. Nothing else survives this fight reliably.

Phase 2: The moment the Phase 2 cutscene plays, she leaps and crashes down blooming Scarlet Rot. Sprint away immediately — do not roll. The bloom lingers. Clear Scarlet Rot buildup with Preserving Boluses throughout Phase 2.

01 — How to Reach Malenia

Malenia is an entirely optional boss — you can finish Elden Ring without fighting her. She sits at the end of Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, which requires both halves of the Haligtree Medallion to access via the Grand Lift of Rold.

The left half is given by Latenna the Albinauric after completing her quest near the Village of the Albinaurics in Liurnia. The right half is found in Ordina, Liturgical Town in the Consecrated Snowfield, which itself requires both medallion halves to reach. If you are struggling to get there, follow the Haligtree Medallion quest line — it is the longest access route to any optional boss in the game.

    📌 Recommended Preparation
Level 120 minimum — 130+ for comfort. Fully upgraded weapon (+10 somber or +25 regular). Black Knife Tiche at max upgrade (+10). At least 5 Preserving Boluses in your inventory — craft with Dewkissed Herba x2, Crystal Cave Moss, Sacramental Bud. Wear light armour for light roll distance. Heavy rolls shorten your dodge coverage significantly and will cause you to eat hits through Waterfowl Dance that a light roll would clear.

02 — Waterfowl Dance — Stroke by Stroke

Waterfowl Dance is the reason most players die to Malenia dozens of times. The dodge is counterintuitive — you run toward her, not away. Running away keeps you inside the hitbox and guarantees you eat most of the first flurry.

    1
First Flurry — Sprint at her as she rises
The moment you see her lift into the air, sprint directly at her and close the gap. She hovers briefly before descending. As she starts descending into the first flurry, roll forward-left twice through the slashes. You are essentially rolling through her body — it feels wrong until you internalise it. The second roll should carry you clear of the last hit of the first flurry. Alternative if caught off guard: sprint far enough away and the first flurry physically cannot reach you, then deal with the second and third normally.
    2
Second Flurry — Roll backwards through the fan
After the first flurry lands, she immediately fans out a wider arc of slashes at ground level. Roll backwards three times through this flurry. Do not roll sideways — the fan catches lateral movement. Diagonal forward-right is also viable if you have the spacing, but backwards is the safest and most consistent.
    3
Third Flurry — She charges directly at you
The third stroke is a direct charge. Roll through it as she approaches — one roll, timed as she closes in. This is the easiest of the three to dodge in isolation but the most likely to kill you because players are usually shaken from the first two and panic roll early.
    4
Phantom Fourth Stroke — Wait before punishing
After the three main flurries, Malenia does a phantom fourth stroke a moment after the sequence appears to end. This kills players who go in for the punish too early. Wait it out, then punish with a running jump attack. You may only get one hit in — check if she staggered before committing to a second.
    🔭 Advanced Bait Technique
You can force Malenia to trigger Waterfowl Dance at a safe distance. When she reaches roughly 50% health, back away and throw a Kukri knife or cast a ranged spell at her. She reacts to ranged hits at this threshold by triggering Waterfowl. With enough distance, the first two flurries whiff completely and you only need to dodge the third charge. This is legitimate strategy — the Souls community confirmed this mechanic extensively.

Spinning SlashSpins 360 degrees with blade extendedOne backwards roll or run away. Single hit with clear recovery window.LOW
⚠ Malenia Heals From Every Hit
This is her defining mechanic and cannot be worked around. Every hit she lands — including hits on your shield and hits from your Spirit Ash — heals her. Mimic Tear actively heals her because it copies your build and hits her. This is not a rumour. Use Black Knife Tiche, who deals unavoidable damage without triggering large heal procs.

    04 — Phase 2 — Goddess of Rot

Phase 2 triggers when Malenia's health reaches zero in Phase 1. She does not die. Instead she recovers, blooms Scarlet Aeonia, and enters her second phase with new attacks, scarlet rot mechanics, and significantly higher aggression.

The Phase 2 transition is the most dangerous moment in the fight. The Scarlet Aeonia bloom immediately after the cutscene catches players who roll rather than sprint. Sprint away, wait for the flower to fully bloom and the AOE to clear, then re-engage.

Throughout Phase 2, Malenia's blade attacks can build up Scarlet Rot status. Watch the orange buildup bar under your health. Use a Preserving Bolus the moment it fills — do not wait for it to proc. Full Scarlet Rot ticks for enough damage per second to kill you even after you stop taking hits from her.

    🔥 Best Phase 2 Weapons
Rivers of Blood — bleed procs despite partial resistance in Phase 1, destroys Phase 2. Two procs often ends the phase. Blasphemous Blade — Taker's Flames ASH deals unblockable fire damage with lifesteal. Excellent sustain. Any +25 physical weapon — if you know the attack patterns, raw damage works. The fight is more about pattern recognition than optimised damage.

05 — Why Black Knife Tiche and Nothing Else

The Spirit Ash question for Malenia has a definitive answer backed by thousands of community attempts. Black Knife Tiche at +10 is the only Spirit Ash that reliably survives this fight and maintains useful aggro throughout both phases.

How to Beat Fire Giant in Elden Ring

The ankle-smashing wall that blocks the endgame. Here’s the exact strategy.

    Updated: May 2026
    Instant Answer
    The Fast Answer
Attack the left ankle (the one with the brace) in Phase 1. In Phase 2, stay behind him and hit his hands when he slams. Bleed builds make this fight significantly easier. Torrent is useful for closing distance but dismount for damage windows.

01 Phase 1 — Target the Left Ankle

The Fire Giant’s weak point in Phase 1 is his left ankle (the one with the wooden brace). Lock on to it and stay close. Roll through his stomps and swipes — they have generous i-frames.

When the ankle breaks (you’ll see him stagger), get aggressive with your strongest attacks. This phase transitions at roughly 50% HP.

02 Phase 2 — Stay Behind, Punish Slams

Phase 2 is more dangerous. He rolls around, casts fire, and does area attacks. Stay behind him as much as possible. His hand slams leave long recovery windows — sprint in and attack 2-3 times, then back off.

    Warning
The fire orb rain attack has massive range. Sprint perpendicular to avoid it. Don’t panic roll — you’ll get clipped.

    03 Torrent Usage

Use Torrent to close distance when the Fire Giant rolls away. Dismount before attacking for better DPS. Torrent is also useful for dodging the snow-plate attack — just gallop sideways.

    04 Recommended Setup

    • Bleed weapons (Rivers of Blood, dual katanas with Seppuku) demolish this fight
    • Fire resistance is helpful but not mandatory
    • Alexander summon helps draw aggro in Phase 2
    • Bring Flame, Protect Me incantation if you have faith

Rivers of Blood (bleed/dex) remains the easiest path to endgame. For raw damage, Colossal Strength builds one-shot most enemies. Mage builds with Comet Azur trivialise some bosses but struggle against mobile ones.

01 Strength — Colossal Bonk Build

Stats (RL 150): VIG 60, END 25, STR 80, rest base.

Weapon: Giant-Crusher or Greatsword with Heavy affinity. Talismans: Shard of Alexander, Claw Talisman, Green Turtle, Erdtree Favor +2.

Jump attack → charged R2 → repeat. Staggers everything in the game including most DLC bosses. The simplest build that works at every level.

    02 Bleed/Dex — Rivers of Blood

Stats (RL 150): VIG 50, DEX 50, ARC 45, rest base.

Weapon: Rivers of Blood + Uchigatana (Seppuku). Talismans: Lord of Blood’s Exultation, Rotten Winged Sword, Millicent’s Prosthesis, Shard of Alexander.

Dual-wield katanas for insane bleed procs. Corpse Piler weapon art melts bosses. Only struggles against bleed-immune enemies.

03 Intelligence — Comet Azur Mage

Stats (RL 150): VIG 40, MIND 40, INT 80, rest base.

Weapon: Lusat’s Glintstone Staff. Spells: Comet Azur, Stars of Ruin, Adula’s Moonblade. Use Cerulean Hidden Tear + Terra Magica for the one-shot combo.

04 Faith — Black Flame Incantation Build

    Stats (RL 150): VIG 50, FAITH 70, STR 20.

Weapon: Blasphemous Blade (self-heal on kill). Incantations: Black Flame, Flame Grant Me Strength, Golden Vow. The tankiest caster build with incredible sustain.

05 Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Recommendations

DLC bosses hit harder and are more mobile. Builds that work best: high VIG (60+), weapons with reach, and builds that don’t rely on long cast times. Strength builds and bleed builds remain top tier. Pure mage builds need to add melee options.
